This instrument is a ultrasound unit that measures the central corneal thickness. Very few offices utilize this technology. Without it, the exact eye pressure can not be determined. The exact eye pressure (IOP) is essential when there is a suspicion of Glaucoma

 This device gives the doctor an estimated eye glass prescription based on the length and shape of the eye. If the eye is longer than average then Myopia (near sightedness) is present. If the eye is shorter than average then Hyperopia (far sightedness) is present. Finally, if the eye has a shape like a football versus a golf ball then the eye is said to have Astigmatism.

 This instrument is essential when there is a loss of visual field. Visual field defects can be attributed to Glaucoma, Brain Tumors, Stokes, Brain Damage, and Multiple Sclerosis. This test is similar to a video game in that all you have to do during the test is press a button when you see a flashing light.

 Our office is one of the only eye clinics that takes blood pressure readings on every patient as part of a routine eye examination. High blood pressure (Hypertension) can be sight threatening if not detected early even if it does not show up during a retinal examination.  This device measures how thick the optic nerve tissue is in relation to the patient's age, race, and sex. It scans the nerve with a laser to determine how dense the nerve tissue is. In the early stages of glaucoma, other instruments may not detect subtle changes that if left untreated could lead to vision loss. This test is not dependent on the patient's response like in a traditional visual field test. Many practices treat patient's with glaucoma, but few Optometric practices have this level of technology available in office.

 This screening tool, also known as the "puff test", allows the measurement of the eye pressure. It sends a gentle puff of air to compress the corneal surface and it is measuring the fluid force from inside the anterior chamber of the eye pushing against the puff. If the measurement is > 22 than the doctor will perform Goldman Tonometry to.

 Digital pictures are the standard of care in the offices of Infinity Eye Care Center. With these pictures the doctor can show you instantly what the interior structures of the eye look like. The camera and Imacam software can enlarge the structures inside the eye several thousand times larger than they really are. Diseases like hypertension, diabetes, HIV, multiple sclerosis, lupus, sickle cell, and others can easliy be viewed with this digital system. Sometimes these digital images can be taken with pupils that are not dilated, but often the doctors will instill pharnaceutical drops to enlarge the pupils and give them better detail when taking the images.

 This insturment allows the measurement of the anterior surface of the corneal surface to be mapped. The color maps reveal how steep or flat the cornea is. This data is critical for fitting specialized contact lenses, measuring the impact of corneal disease on the sufrace of the eye, determining if a patient has a sight threatening condition like keratoconus, assessing dry eye related pathology, and making recommedations for refractive surgery.
